Packaging - strength, product shelf life & printability

The strength, product shelf-life extension and printability of almost all packaging materials critically depend on exactly the same thing - vapour permeability. Versaperm's latest development has made testing and measuring this both faster and a whole lot more flexible.

Versaperm now offers both universal and packaging specific systems that all provider fast and accurate measurements of this critical factor.  Multiple measurement chamber types and sensor modules give the user the flexibility to use the system for both development and quality control work as well as making it dedicated to either specific or general packaging needs.

The equipment works on all packaging materials, including coatings, laminates, films, cards and plastics as well on complete and finished packages or containers. The new multi-chamber systems allows companies to boost strength, printability and shelf-life performance by identifying, customising materials and correcting problems. 

The equipment can either be used on material samples, or on finished packages.  This is often critically important as manufacturing processes such as thermoforming, folding, moulding etc. can easily change the package's vapour permeability by a factor of four.  The sealing process can affect it by an even greater amount.

Versaperm packaging systems are fast, reliable and easy to use - producing results that are accurate in the parts per million or parts per billion ranges.  Where desired, the equipment can also control environmental conditions such as temperature and pressure.

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm can provide a technical consultancy service and a permeability testing service for companies where the need to test packaging or materials is on an irregular basis.
